Pink Ribbon Manicure

Hallo iedereen!

Oktober is natuurlijk de maand van Pink Ribbon, de maand voor extra aandacht voor borstkanker. Ik kon natuurlijk niet achterblijven, en ik heb een roze manicure gemaakt!

Ik heb twee Barry M kleuren gebruikt, de donkere kleur is Limited Edition Pink en de lichtere kleur is Bright Pink. Ik kocht deze lakjes aan het begin van mijn nagellakverslaving bij Alice&Jo.

Hoewel ik (gelukkig) nog niet te maken heb gekregen met borstkanker, bij mijzelf niet, maar ook niet bij familie of vrienden, kan ik mij goed voorstellen hoe zwaar het kan zijn. Ik heb mijn vader en tante verloren aan andere vormen van kanker, dus ik weet wel van heel dichtbij hoe zwaar de strijd ertegen is.

Toen ik op de website van Pink Ribbon zag dat 1 op de 8 vrouwen borstkanker krijgt in haar leven, schrok ik wel! Ik vind dat een te hoog aantal en ik hoop dat het in de loop der tijd minder zal worden.

Pink Ribbon heeft nu ook een actie, Donate 1/8. Iedereen kan zijn eigen Donate 1/8 organiseren en zo geld ophalen voor Pink Ribbon. Ik vind het wel een leuk idee! Gaan jullie meedoen of kennen jullie iemand die meedoet? Let me know :)

OPI: PotC French Manicure III

Hello everybody!

En de laatste combinatie. Er zijn natuurlijk meer mogelijkheden, maar ik heb eventjes genoeg gehad van french manicures! Misschien breng ik de reeks ooit weer terug ;)

Dit is Skull & Glossbones samen met Steady as she Rose. Ik wist niet zeker wat ik van deze combinatie zou vinden, maar ik wilde hem toch proberen. Ik had de andere lakjes al gedaan, ik kon deze twee toch niet achterlaten?

Ik weet nog steeds niet zo goed wat ik ervan vind. Aan de ene kant vind ik het wel leuk, maar aan de andere kant totaal niet. Ik denk dat dit een "nay" voor mij is. Wat vinden jullie?

OPI: PotC French Manicure

Hello everybody!

Toen ik de OPI - PotC lakjes ontving, had ik meteen het gevoel alsof Sparrow me the Drama en Planks a Lot heel goed bij elkaar zouden passen. En hoe kan je daar beter achterkomen dan via een french manicure?

When I received the OPI - PotC polishes, I immediately felt like Sparrow me the Drama and Planks a lot would be really pretty together. What other way to find out than doing a little french manicure?

En mijn vermoedens waren correct! Ik vind deze combinatie echt leuk, ik vind zo'n soort french manicure sowieso vaak al erg leuk.

Wat vinden jullie? Houden jullie meer van de traditionele french manicure, of vinden jullie zoiets ook wel leuk?

Cupcake Nails!

Cupcake nagels! Ik heb ik google gezocht naar "cupcake nails" voor inspiratie en kwam een paar keer een leuke creatie tegen. De foto was meerdere malen gereposed, dus ik weet niet van wie het origineel is! :( Maar hier is in ieder geval mijn versie! :)

Misschien niet perfect, maar wel schattig toch? Persoonlijk vind ik dit ontwerp heel erg leuk! Wat vinden jullie ervan?

Queensday 2011

Hello everybody!

Ik weet dat ik afwezig was, sorry! Ik had het erg druk met school, dus ik had niet echt tijd om mijn nagels te doen, dus ik besloot om een paar dagen met helemaal geen nagellak rond te lopen! :P

Vandaag is het Koninginnedag, veel mensen gaan vandaag leuke dingen doen, maar ik... Ik moet de hele dag werken. Maar ik wilde toch een snelle Koninginnedag manicure doen!

I know I've been gone, sorry! I've been very busy with school, so I didn't really have time to do my nails, so I decided to go a few days without any nailpolish at all!

Today's Queensday, a lot of people are going to do fun things, but I... I have to work the whole day. But I still wanted to do a little queensday manicure!

NOTD: Easter/Spring nails

Hello everybody!

Vandaag is het eerste paasdag dus ik wilde een paas/lente NOTD doen. Ik heb veel hele creative en mooie designs gezien, maar ik heb het simpel gehouden. Vooral omdat ik niet zo creatief ben haha!

Today's easter so I decided to do a easter/spring NOTD. I've seen a lot of super creative easter designs, but I kept it simple. Mainly because I'm not that creative haha!

Ik gebruikte op iedere nagel een andere kleur. Deze foto is misschien een beetje vreemd, ik probeerde mijn duim zo te positioneren dat je zo min mogelijk zou zien van de huid om mijn nagel heen. Mijn duim "lijdt" het meest onder mijn slechte wolf-biting (velletjesbijten) gewoonte... Vandaar dat ik eigenlijk nooit foto's maak met mijn duim erop!

I used a different colour on every nail. This picture may be a bit weird... I tried to position my thumb in a way that you wouldn't see too much of the skin around the nail... My thumb suffers to most from my bad wolf-biting habit... That's way you never see pictures of my thumb!

NOTD: Pink and Black

Hello everybody!

Ik zag een filmpje op youtube van QueenofBlendingMUA. Ik kreeg meteen zin om het nageldesign na te maken! In plaats van een hartje maken op 1 van de kanten, heb ik gewoon overal stippen gezet :)

I saw a video on youtube from QueenofBlendingMUA. I was inspired to recreate the naildesign! Instead of doing a heart on one side of the colours, I just went with dots all over :)

Ik heb China Glaze Suger High als base gebruikt en daarna OPI Black Onyx. De schuine lijnen heb ik freehand gezet, dus het is niet echt helemaal recht en perfect, maar ik vind het goed genoeg voor freehand ^^

Ik had veel moeite met het fotograferen van Sugar High. Ik denk dat mijn camera roze niet zo leuk vindt, in de meeste foto's leek het oranje! De eerste foto lijkt het meest op de werkelijke kleur!

I used China Glaze Sugar High as a base and OPI Black Onyx. I freehanded the lines, so it isn't really even and perfect, but it's okay for freehand ^^

I had a really hard time to photograph Sugar High. I think my camera hates pink, it was orange in most of my pictures... The first picture is the most colour accurate!

NOTD: Summery Gradient II

Sorry dat er geen post was gister! Om het goed te maken heb ik een nieuwe gradient manicure gedaan!

Sorry for my absence yesterday! To make it up to you I have another gradient!

De nagel van mijn middelvinger was zo kort afgebroken dat, als ik alles helemaal gelijk wilde hebben, ik alles helemaal kort moest vijlen. Ik kon dit toch niet over mijn hart verkrijgen, dus ik heb een tijdje een scheve nagel! Of moet ik zeggen: schever dan normaal. De nagel van mijn middelvinger groeit niet "recht naar buiten", maar hij buigt af naar links. Stiekem irriteert me dat heel erg, vooral in foto's, daar lijkt het altijd zooo scheef! Maar ik denk dat ik er maar gewoon mee moet leven ;)

My middlefinger nail broke of so short that, if I wanted to even it out, I had to file my whole nail down. But I just couldn't do that, so I'm left with a crooked nail for a while. Or should I say, more crooked than normal. The nail on my middlefinger doesn't grow "straight out", but it bends to the left. It always annoys me, because it looks sooo crooked in pictures. But I guess I just have to live with it! ;)

NOTD: Summery Gradient

Ik wilde weer eens een gradient doen, dus ik begon te zoeken in mijn collectie naar kleuren in de zelfde colour range (ik ben even het Nederlandse woord kwijt?), en dit is waar ik op uit kwam!

I wanted to do another gradient so I started looking for colours within the same colour range and this is what I came up with!

Ik vind het wel een beetje zomer-achtig!

Eerst vond ik het niets, vooral omdat ik Peachy Keen niet echt mooi vind staan bij mijn huidskleur. Maar nu ik er meer naar kijk begin ik het toch leuk te vinden! Wat vinden jullie ervan?

It has a summery feel to me!

At first I didn't like it, mainly because I don't really like Peachy Keen against my skintone. But looking at it more, I'm starting to like this combination! What do you think?

Hello everybody!

Dit zou ook een (late) valentijn manicure kunnen zijn... Maar ik vind roze en stippen leuk, dus voor mij is het een gewone NOTD! Haha.

Ik heb Limited Edition Pink van Barry M gebruikt en Alpine Snow van OPI voor de tips. Ik heb Limited Edition Pink ook gebruikt voor de stippen.

This could also be a (late) valentine's manicure... But I really like pink and dots so it counts as a everyday nail to me! Haha.

Valentine's manicure.... Gone bad?

Hello everybody!

Dit is wat ik heb bedacht als Valentijn manicure. Ik vind het leuk... en ik vind het niet leuk. Ik heb Something Sweet en Sugar High van China Glaze gebruikt. Om te stemplen heb ik Red my Fortune Cookie gebruikt van OPI. Vervolgens heb ik wat rode rhinestones gebruikt en een roze hartjes-vorm rhinestone.

Ik had wat smudging toen ik topcoat opdeed, het plaatje op mijn middelvinger moet een hartje met vleugels voorstellen! :P

So this is what I came up with for a Valentine's Day manicure. I like it, and I don't like it... I used China Glaze's Something sweet and Sugar High. I used OPI's Red my Fortune Cookie to stamp with, and then I added some red rhinestones and a pink heart-shaped rhinestone.

I had some smudging when I applied topcoat, the image on my middlefinger is a heart with wings! :P

Ik weet het niet... Het idee in mijn hoofd was zoveel leuker en mooier, dus misschien ben ik gewoon wat teleurgesteld met het resultaat. Ik ben niet echt heel erg creatief en ik vind het moeilijk om met originele ideeën te komen. Ik denk dat ik het leuker had gevonden als ik niet had gestempeld.

I don't know... In my head the idea seemed prettier so maybe I'm just a bit disappointed with the result. I'm not that creative and I find it hard to come up with original ideas. I think I would've liked it better without the stamping.

Op deze foto kun je zien welke dotting tool ik heb gebruikt. Ik heb deze gekocht op BornPrettyStore in een setje van 5.

Ik weet niet waarom, maar ik vind dit echt leuk! Ik blijf er maar naar kijken :D Het is erg simpel, maar toch heeft het wel wat. Ik vind het ook leuk hoe het wit afsteekt tegen het blauw. Wat vinden jullie ervan?

I don't really know why, but I really like this design! I keep staring at it :D It's simple, but still very different from a regular mani. I also like the contrast between the white and the blue. What do you think about it?

NOTD: Hello Kitty!

Hello everybody!

Ik vind Hello Kitty leuk. Ik vind roze leuk. Dus ik heb besloten om deze twee te combineren met behulp van één van mijn nieuwe imageplates! De basiskleur die ik heb gebruikt is Bright Pink van Barry M. Ik heb Alpine Snow van OPI gebruikt om te stempelen. Dit is pas de tweede keer dat ik stempel, dus het is nog niet perfect.

I like Hello Kitty. I like pink. So with my new imageplate I decided to combine the two of them! Haha. The base colour is Bright Pink by Barry M. I used Alpine Snow by OPI to stamp. This is only my second time stamping, so it isn't perfect.

Schattig toch? Ik vind het echt leuk! (Ja, ik zei toch dat ik kinderachtig was..? :p)

BornPrettyStore Haul

Hello everybody!

Ik heb wat dingetjes besteld bij BornPrettyStore! Ik heb eerder bij hen besteld op eBay, maar deze keer heb ik vanaf hun eigen site besteld :) Kijk mee naar wat ik allemaal besteld heb!

I ordered some stuff from BornPrettyStore! I ordered from them before on eBay, but this time I used their own site :) Read on to see what I ordered!

Rhinestones in hartjes vorm. Schattig he? :D Ik zit eraan te denken om een Valentijnsdag nagellook te doen, maar ik heb op dit moment nog niet echt een idee... Maar dit kan ik daar goed voor gebruiken!

Heart shaped rhinestones. Aren't they cute? :D I'm thinking about doing a Valentine inspired nail, although I don't have an idea at this moment... But this might come in handy!

Dotting tools in verschillende groottes. Tot nu toe had ik alleen maar één dotting tool welke vrij klein was, en ik wilde een paar grotere.

My order arrived in around 1,5 weeks which is quite good for international shipping. It was packaged in a simple bubble envoloppe. And the best thing is: there were no shipping costs!

Striped 2NITE

Hello everybody!

Nadat ik een filmpje had gezien op youtube van Ilovemylongnails, wilde ik het ook proberen! Ze gebruikte normale plakband om lijnen te creëren op haar nagels. Je kunt het filmpje hier bekijken.

Ik heb 2NITE van China Glaze gebruikt als mijn basiskleur. Vervolgens heb ik gewacht tot de lak volledig droog was en daarna heb ik wat plakband op mijn nagels geplakt, zwarte lak eroverheen, en dit is het resultaat!

After seeing a video from Ilovemylongnails on youtube, I wanted to try it out too! Basically see used scotch tape to create lines on her nails. You can watch the video here.

I used China Glaze's 2NITE as a base, waited for it to become fully dry and then put some tape on my nails, slap on some black polish and this is the result!

Het duurde langer dan ik had verwacht. Ten eerste moest ik de plakband in dunne stripjes knippen (en die dus ook erg ongelijk zijn geworden...), moest ik wachten tot mijn basislak volledig droog was, moest ik de plakband op mijn nagels plakken, zwarte lak erover heen en dan nog eventjes wachten... En daarna de plakband er weer af halen.

Maar... Ik vind het resultaat wel leuk! Ik vind het resultaat op mijn middelvinger het best gelukt. Wat vinden jullie van zoiets als dit? Leuk of juist helemaal niets?

It took longer than I expected. I had to cut all the pieces of tape into thin strips (very uneven thin strips...), had to wait for my nailpolish to be completely dry, tape up my nails, put on a black polish, wait for a bit and then take the tape off.

But... I quite like the result! I think the result on my middlefinger is the prettiest. What do you think about something like this? Like it? Hate it?

NOTD: New Year

Hello everybody!

This was my NOTD on new year's eve. I'm sorry for the low quality pictures, it started to chip and the rhinestones on my ringfinger were almost falling off, so I had to take some pictures fast... And I didn't have my camera with me, so I used my mobile phone.

I used a plain black polish from essence to create the french tip and some random silver glitter that I have in my collection. It has a kind of holographic effect to it.

Not my best picture ever... But you can see the holographic effect here! At first I was doubting if I should add the glitter, but I'm glad I did! It felt like a there was a party going on on my nails haha.

Before I started this blog, I did some nailart too. I took pictures of it with my phone.. lol.

I wanted to share these " creations" with you! ;) Excuse the quality of the pictures and the background, this was all pre-blog! :P

I guess I never heard of clean-up? And my poor middle finger!

My thumb doesn't look very happy..

Can't really remember what I used for the tips... I can look it up if you want to :) And look at my pinky! The nail is way too long!!

Took me quite some time to make this... All those small beads! I used a simple white polish and sprinkled glitter over it :P

A design I saw in a YouTube tutorial. Used the same colours as in the vid!
